পশ্চিমাঞ্চল রেলওয়ের চিফ ইঞ্জিনিয়ার আমজাদ হোসেন জানান, খুলনা থেকে মংলা বন্দর পর্যন্ত নতুন রেলপথটি খুলনার ফুলতলা, দৌলতপুর, সোনাডাঙ্গা, খানজাহান আলী, সদর, বালিয়াঘাটা ও বাগেরহাটের ফকিরহাট, সদর, রামপাল হয়ে মংলায় যাবে। এ প্রকল্পটির বাস্তবায়নকাজ শেষ হলে মংলা বন্দরের সঙ্গে ঢাকার যোগাযোগ সহজেই গড়ে উঠবে। এশিয়ান রেলওয়ের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগের সম্ভাবনা গড়ে উঠবে।
